Before the steps to make the cake, there are some suggestions. To give your cake a beautiful blue color, use a tiny bit of violet food color in addition to royal blue food color. And use paste food coloring rather than liquid or gel food dye. That will give your cake a blue hue without turning the cake turquoise.
Place the two greased round pans in the upper and lower third of the oven and preheat it to 350 degrees F.
Next, take a mixing bowl and add sugar and butter. Beat the mixture for two to three minutes at the medium speed of the mixer.
After the batter becomes light and fluffy, add an egg at a time and start the mixer each time. After the eggs, add the vinegar, royal blue, violet food coloring, and vanilla extract into the mixer.
Make another mixture of flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt in another bowl and keep that aside.
Now, pour measured buttermilk and vanilla into a cup.
All the required batters and mixtures are ready now, add flour mixture and buttermilk mixture into the sugar mixture, and whisk them together in the mixer. Make sure the paste is well whisked.
Pour the batter into the cake pans. Keep it in the oven for twenty-five minutes. To check whether it's baked or not insert a toothpick in the center of the cake. If it comes out clean, that means it is baked.
Wait for the cook to cool down at least ten minutes before frosting.
Now prepare the frosting by combining confectioners' sugar, butter, cream cheese, and vanilla in a large bowl. Whisk them perfectly.
Now apply this frosting on the top of each layer of the cake.
