Malva Pudding- The South African Classic Recipe!
A delicious dish called malva pudding has its roots in South Africa. It has apricot jam and is soft and caramelized.
It is frequently served with custard and/or ice cream and coated with a cream sauce while it is still hot.
Many South African restaurants provide it. According to legend, the pudding was initially Dutch and then Cape Dutch, making it a representation of the Cape.

Malva Pudding – For Pudding Lovers!
- 1 cup (200g) white sugar
- Pinch salt
- 2 eggs
- 2 Tbsp (30ml) butter, melted
- 1 Tbsp (15ml) vinegar
- 1 tsp (5ml) bicarbonate of soda
- ¾ cup (180ml) milk
- ⅔ cup (100g) cake flour
- 3 Tbsp (45ml) cocoa powder
- 1 tsp (5ml) baking powder
For Making Sauce
- 2 cups (500 ml) cream for the sauce
- 50g (1/4 cup) of sugar
- 2 slabs (100g each) whether it's milk or dark
- 12–16 burnt marshmallows for serving
- 6–8 digestive biscuits wrapped with chocolate, for serving
- Pre-heat the oven to 180°C
- Using an electric mixer, whisk the ingredients until they are light and fluffy.Mix in the butter and vinegar.
- Mix the bicarbonate of soda and milk together.

- Break up one slab of chocolate into bits and add to a bowl with hot cream. Stir until the chocolate has melted. Gently provide heat but boil it.
- Chop remaining chocolate into chunks and add to cream, stirring to melt evenly. Place in the refrigerator for a little while or set down to firm up.

How To Store?
Malva pudding leftovers can be stored for up to three days in the fridge in an airtight container. Reheat it in a 300°F (150°C) oven or the microwave before serving.
Wrapped tightly in plastic wrap, this moist pudding will keep well in the refrigerator for up to three to five days.
Place the cake in the microwave for 10 to 15 minutes, or until thoroughly warm, before serving to reheat the pudding.
How To Serve Malva Pudding?
Pour the sauce over the pudding while it is still hot to let it absorb the liquid completely.
